About:
This app is being created in collaboration with Ben Silver for our Java II Programming class. It is an app that’s intended to make art more accessible to those who do not traditionally have access to the “art world,” and encourage users to go to museums and local art exhibits. It will contain paintings from all over the world, and provide information about the piece, the artist, and the museum in which the piece is housed. It will give the user the ability to sort the art by artist, location, time period, and theme, as a means of allowing them to explore similar pieces. In later iterations, we also hope to create the ability for the user to create “Playlists” of sorts, so that they can save art by categories that are meaningful to them (want to visit, favorites, cool portraits, etc.). We also hope to create sharing capabilities, where users can share individual pieces and collaborate on playlists, and the ability to crowd source local art events to give exposure to up-and-coming artists.
